Starvation Given Form
It crouched low, a tangle of bone and hunger barely held together in a human shape. Its body was all sharp edges and sunken muscle, like starvation sculpted into something that refused to die. A wild, matted mane swallowed its shoulders, but the skull it wore was unmistakable—an aged deer mask fused to its face, cracked and rotting, with empty sockets that seemed to stare straight through the dark.Its antlers twisted upward in warped, hollow branches, curling in impossible shapes like dead wood grown in nightmares. Long fingers with hooked claws tapped the ground in a slow, predatory rhythm, as if counting down to something only it knew.Every breath rasped through its narrow chest, too cold, too still, too old.This wasn’t a beast or a story.It was hunger made flesh—
a wendigo waiting for the last scrap of light to go out.
